14-year-old Millie Bobby Brown took to social media to defend her friendship with 31-year-old Drake after she revealed the two text with each other earlier this week.
The Stranger Things actress was asked about Drake on the Emmys red carpet, where she described him as “a great friend and a great role model” and said “We just texted each other the other day, and he was like, ‘I miss you so much,’ and I was like, ‘I miss you more.'”
She also said Drake gives her advice about boys.
Because of their age difference, many took to social media to criticize the inappropriateness of their friendship.

YES, it is VERY inappropriate for any 31 year old man to be texting a 14 year old young woman regularly, especially if he's giving her dating advice! #Drake

I just don’t know what a 30 year old man would have to say to a 14 yr old girl and what their friendship is based on… Drake is really fucking creepy

Imagine knowing you had a 14 year old daughter/niece/cousin/sister and she was ‘chatting’ to Drake on whatsapp or whatever…
Big 30+ dude…

Drake is deadass texting 14-year-olds and I'm terrified whenever I find out my 18-year-old cousin watches an Instagram story I cuss in.

Whether Drake has bad intentions or not, he's still a 31 year old man and shouldn't be texting a 14 year old girl about anything. Period.

Following the backlash, Millie blasted those who take issue with their relationship.
“Why you gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird…for real,” Millie wrote. “I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life.”
She continued, “U don’t get to choose that for me. It’s nice to have people understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez.”
