Wendy Williams is doing big things!
The 48-year-old — who was named one of The Hollywood Reporter‘s 35 Most Powerful People in Media — will take the stage in the Tony-winning musical Chicago in the summer, spending seven weeks as Matron “Mama” Morton. The role, for which Queen Latifah earned an Oscar nomination in 2003, casts Williams as a corrupt jail-cell mastermind.
Williams showed some dancing skills when she competed on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars last year; she was featured on the big screen in 2012’s Think Like a Man.
At THR‘s Power List party in New York last week, Williams teased that she had a major announcement coming, calling it “totally out of my wheelhouse” and “you would not expect me to do it.”
She also endorsed Alec Baldwin for a late-night talk show on NBC, saying that she liked daytime hours too much to make the transition to the after-hours.
