Do you think confederate monuments should come down?

Do you think Missy Elliott deserves a statue in her honor?

Well, now you can support both ideas at the same time! Nathan Coflin started a Change.org petition to replace a Confederate monument in Portsmouth, Va. with a Missy Elliott statue.

Melissa Arnette Elliott — aka Missy — was born in Portsmouth in 1971.

“Together we can put white supremacy down, flip it and reverse it,” the petition states, which is addressed to Portsmouth Mayor John Rowe. It goes on to detail Missy Elliott’s rise from “humble beginnings” in Portsmouth to becoming a platinum recording artist with over 30 million albums sold — “all this without even once owning a slave.”

The petition requires 15,000 supporters, but last we checked it was at 13,247.
