‘The X Factor’ Announces Duet Partners for Season Finale

On Wednesday night, the first part of The X Factor season two finale will begin, where the top three contestants will perform their celebrity duets for your votes. Girl group and unexpected contender Fifth Harmony, 13-year old powerhouse Carly Rose Sonenclar, and fan favorite country crooner Tate Stevens will all battle it out for the five million dollar prize.

Country band Little Big Town will join Tate Stevens onstage, while fellow country superstar and tabloid favorite LeAnn Rimes will join Carly Rose. Fifth Harmony will be joined by the only X Factor judge to not have any acts left in the competition, Demi Lovato.

While Little Big Town and Tate Stevens seems like an evenly matched pairing (a relatively new-on-the-scene country music band and a soon to be country music legend), LeAnn Rimes and Carly Rose are sure to make a splash, as Carly has never done any country songs on the show prior to this, and LeAnn isn’t known for singing the diva-lite ballads that Carly has gained recognition for. (Does America even remember that LeAnn is a singer and not just a husband stealer?)

The only disappointing part seems to be the pairing of Demi with Fifth Harmony. Normally, The X Factor tries to pair big celebrities with the contestants in order to pull in the ratings, but Ms. Lovato is on the show every week so people aren’t tuning in for her this week. Also, Fifth Harmony have already done two amazing performances of Demi’s latest singles Skyscraper and Give Your Heart A Break. It feels like producers weren’t expecting the teen queens to make it to the finals and were rushed to find a duet parter, resulting in the judge herself joining them this week.

The two part X Factor finale airs this Wednesday and Thursday at 8/7c on Fox.
