Sinister 2, Hitman: Agent 47 and American Ultra proved to be no match for Straight Outta Compton at this weekend’s box office.
After earning more than $60 million in its opening weekend, Straight Outta Compton headed straight to the top for its second weekend of theatrical release, grossing $26.8 million.
Additionally, due to good reviews, word of mouth and more, Straight Outta Compton has already earned more than $100 million at the box office (current estimates have its domestic total at roughly $111.5 million).
Word of a Straight Outta Compton sequel centered on Snoop Dogg, Tupac and more had begun circulating earlier this week, but Universal quickly shot down that rumor… at least for now.
