With Serena Williams on the brink of history, the world’s number one female tennis player continues to nab magazine covers left and right.
This month alone, Serena has appeared on the cover of New York and The New York Times Magazine, and now she’s landed the cover of Sports Illustrated 16 years after her first cover.
Per Sports Illustrated:
In this week’s issue, Jon Wertheim writes about Serena’s quest for history: Beginning on Monday, she’ll be playing for tennis’s elusive Grand Slam.
Serena has a chance to win a calendar Grand Slam for the first time in her career, which would make her the first player to accomplish the feat since Steffi Graf in 1988. A U.S. Open title would also be Serena’s fifth straight Grand Slam title and fourth straight U.S. Open title, both impressive achievements in their own right.
We’re rooting for you, Serena!
