We’re not sure what Weather Channel Meteorologist Jen Delgado learned about Haiti in school, but she got on live television and said that the deforesting of Haiti is because hungry children eat the trees.
While reporting on Hurricane Matthew on Monday, Jen warned of the additional risk of devestation Haiti faces because the country has fewer trees than the Dominican Republic.
“That’s because this whole area has been essentially deforested,” she explained. “They take all the trees down, the burn the trees. Even the kids there, they’re so hungry, they actually eat the trees.”
Eat the trees? Girl, what?
According to @JenDelgadoTWC #Haiti's deforestation is a result of children eating the trees. ?U hear me. #Ignorance in its fullness #Matthew
