Paula Deen’s PEOPLE cover story has officially hit newsstands, and in the mag she makes sure her fans know that racial slur she admitted to using was, “a long time ago.”
“I feel like ’embattled’ or ‘disgraced’ will always follow my name,” she tells People. “It’s like that black football player who recently came out. He (Sam) said, ‘I just want to be known as a football player. I don’t want to be known as a gay football player.’ I know exactly what he’s saying.”
Considering her scandal revolves around her constant use of the N-word, comparing herself to ‘that black football player‘ probably isn’t the best idea — although, we’re sure she’s not too worried about public perception after inking a new $75 million deal.
