Quavo Attempts to Clarify His Homophobic Comments About iLoveMakonnen Coming Out: ‘I Have a Record With Frank Ocean. That Closes My Case’

Migos came under fire for their comments last month after iLoveMakonnen came out as gay, which forced the group to issue a public apology.

In a new interview with Billboard, Quavo has again addressed iLoveMakonnen’s coming out.

“If you real from the heart, you real from the heart,” Quavo toldBillboard‘s Chris Martins. “That ain’t got nothing to do with no sex or gender. It’s 2017, and we all living,” he added.

While speaking on iLoveMakonnen’s coming out, Quavo used Migos’ recent collaboration with Frank Ocean as proof he’s not homophobic.

“When [Makonnen’s] music came out I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way…” He pauses. “I got a record with Frank Ocean [“Slide,” a Calvin Harris track featuring Migos and Ocean]. That closes my case.”
