“I am truly delighted and humbled to be given this wonderful honour. My mother’s obsession with beauty and fashion ignited my passion for this amazing industry and I feel blessed to have the privilege of working with some of the most extraordinary people throughout my career,” the 50-year-old makeup mogul said in a press release.

McGrath, affectionately nicknamed “mother” within the beauty industry, has earned an esteemed reputation as the queen of makeup, translating her major success on the runway to celebrity faces like Kacey Musgraves, Cardi B, Billy Porter and more.

In 2017, she launched her own cosmetics line, Pat McGrath Labs, to bring runway-ready products to the masses. Earlier in the year, the brand made headlines for a lipstick collaboration with skater brand Supreme, which sold out in a record 8.2 seconds.

“When I first launched my brand, Pat McGrath Labs, it was designed to inspire self-expression and individuality,” the legendary star wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday, thanking family, friends, colleagues and “beauty lovers” for the royal recognition.

Her comments quickly filled with an outpouring of congratulatory messages, with one fan writing, “Girl! You brought me back to the joy of using makeup again as a way to really express myself!! Congratulations!”

“There is no one more fitting and so deserved of this Honor, You are an artist in every sense not just makeup, your drive and Passion, your embrace of your chickens ( young generation of creatives ) you call them .. your sense of humor making all around you feel at ease!!” British supermodel Naomi Campbell — who is a close friend and the face of McGrath’s latest ad campaign — wrote on Instagram.

Her many superstar fans shared their support, with Reese Witherspoon commenting, “Amazing,” while Kacey Musgraves wrote, “Baddest b—h ever to roam.” David Beckham said, “So proud of you and so happy for you.”

Diana von Furstenberg, John Galliano, Yolanda Hadid, Lisa Rinna and more congratulated the makeup artist as well. Sharing her motherly love with the industry, McGrath dedicated the honor “in tribute to Makeup Artists everywhere.” Writing, “I adore each and every one of you. Never give up on your dreams – with hard work, creativity and perseverance anything is possible.”
