Over the weekend, a trademark filing appeared for ‘Fenty Estates Wine and Spirits’ sending the internet roaring with excitement that Rihanna’s getting into the liquor business.
Sadly, that’s not the case — at least not right now.
We received a letter from Rihanna’s legal team saying the trademark filing has nothing to do with her.
It reads:
“Be advised that neither Ms. Fenty nor any of her affiliated entities are the applicants for or registered owners of the Mark. Rather, the Mark was registered without Ms. Fenty’s knowledge, authorization or consent by an entity named JGC Global LLC.”
That’s too bad. We were looking forward to Rihanna-branded spirits.
