Last month we reported that YouTube audited many popular YouTube channels for fraudulent and inconsistent views, removing over 2 billion of them. A whopping 156 million views of Lady Gaga‘s videos have been removed from her account after the audit.
According to Digital Spy:
YouTube has been deleting videos from artists’ original accounts, after the clips had been redistributed to their official VEVO pages.
However, a spokesperson has confirmed that Lady GaGa’s lost views were from her official VEVO channel, reports Billboard.
At the time of the initial purge, the spokesperson explained: “This was not a bug or a security breach. This was an enforcement of our viewcount policy.”
In addition to Gaga, others who have been affected by YouTube’s decision to clean things up include Beyoncé, Chris Brown and Leona Lewis.
