Khloé Kardashian Defends Kim Kardashian’s 40th Birthday Trip, Opens Up About Her Battle with COVID-19

Khloé Kardashian appeared on ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’ and opened up about her battle with COVID-19 earlier this year and defended her sister Kim Kardashian’s controversial 40th birthday party.

“It was so incredibly scary,” Khloé told host Ellen DeGeneres. “I mean, it still is scary, but especially then when the whole world was shutting down and we didn’t have really any information or the information we had changed every single day.”

Recounting her symptoms, Khloé said she was “really sick” and explained she wore a mask and gloves as a precaution when she first started feeling something was wrong.

“I felt really quickly on that I was getting sick with something. And I remember I just wore a mask [and] I remember wearing gloves just because it was speculation all about COVID but no one really knew,” she said. “We all were like there’s no way I could have COVID. I still was just very diligent, wearing masks, and we got tested, the whole family got tested, and my results were positive.”

While her family members were ‘alarmed’ by Khloé’s diagnosis, everyone else’s results came back negative. She went on to say that having to quarantine away from her 2-year-old daughter True was the hardest part.

“I just was quarantined in my room for like 16 days. We had to wait until I had negative test results for me to leave, and that was the hardest part,” she recalled. “I mean, I don’t care how beautiful of a place you have, being taken away from your child for that long, because I couldn’t be around my daughter, that was the most heart-wrenching thing.”

When asked about the backlash surrounding Kim’s recent private island getaway to celebrate her 40th birthday, Khloé defended Kim’s decision.

“I haven’t heard a lot about it, but I did hear that people were upset that we all went out of town. I don’t really know the extent of it,” Khloé said. “But this year is a frustrating year. I get it. I think there’s so many frustrations going on for everybody. But also it’s her 40th. This is something that she wanted to do for us. It was such a nice thing.”

“Being there with all the precautions that we took and being there and how grateful everyone was for the tourism aspect of it,” she says on the show. “So many people said that we were their first party of guests that they’ve had in months and what it’s done for them to be able to pay their bills or to be able to do stuff for their family, just hearing those messages when we were there, we felt really good and we felt so safe.

“We did it in the safest way I could imagine someone doing it.”
