For those of you who are waiting for the official premiere of ‘Orange Is the New Black’ season 5 to hit Netflix on June 9th, you’ll be happy to hear that Jessica Pimentel (who plays Maria Ruiz) has been promoted to regular for the upcoming season.

Ruiz’s character challenged Taylor Schilling’s Piper in Season 4. Season 5 takes place in real time over the course of three days and chronicling the inmates’ fight for redemption, resolution and respect after Poussey’s death sparked a riot at the end of last season.
Pimentel, who also fronts the death-metal group Alekhine’s Gun, is repped by Stewart Talent.
With inclusive shows getting cancelled left and right, we have to celebrate the talented actors and actresses making strides on the shows that are still on-air.
