In the wake of the death of Eric Garner, Jay Z is doing what he can to push for change in the New York state justice system.

Gov. Cuomo held a private session with Jay Z and Russell Simmons on Wednesday as he pursued a “soup-to-nuts” review of the system.

Cuomo’s confab with Jay came as one of the governor’s allies, hip hop impresario Russell Simmons, said that the democrat had promised to sign an executive order that would give special prosecutors the power to investigate future killings of unarmed civilians by police.

Cuomo’s office called his meeting with Jay a “productive session” in which they talked about developing legislation to reform the state’s justice system to respond to the near daily protests over a Staten Island grand jury’s decision last week not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo for Garner’s chokehold death in July.

“Gov. Cuomo and Shawn (JAY Z) Carter had a productive conversation about doing a top-to-bottom review of the criminal justice system and how we can all work together to pass a reform package that ensures equality in the eyes of the law,” Cuomo spokeswoman Melissa DeRosa said.

Jay Z also helped deliver “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirts to LeBron James & other NBA players. Good work, Jay!
