Budding Broadway star Kyle Jean-Baptiste has passed away at age 21 after tragically falling off his mother’s fire escape.
Kyle had been starring in the Broadway production of Les Miserables, becoming the youngest person and the first African-American man to take on the role of Jean Valjean on Broadway.

“The entire Les Miserables family is shocked and devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of Kyle, a remarkable young talent and tremendous person who made magic – and history – in his Broadway debut,” a rep for the show told BroadwayWorld.com in a statement. “We send our deepest condolences to his family and ask that you respect their privacy in this unimaginably difficult time.”
So sad.
