'Hamilton' Star Daveed Diggs Cast as Lead in TNT's 'Snowpiercer' TV Series Based on 2013 Film

Daveed Diggs continues to be a man in demand.

The Grammy and Tony winner, who currently recurs as Johan Johnson on ABC’s black-ish, has been tapped to lead TNT’s TV adaptation of the 2013 film Snowpiercer.

via TVLine:

Per the basic cabler, “Snowpiercer” is “a futuristic thriller set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland,” where “class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival” plague the last “remnants of humanity.” Those who did survive are said to inhabit a “gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe.”

Diggs will play Layton Well, “a prisoner barely surviving the harsh conditions in the tail end of the train” — so, similar to [Chris] Evans’ big-screen character, but not the same.

Not content with just acting and rapping, Daveed is also set to executive produce comedy series The Mayor, which was recently announced as part of ABC’s 2017-2018 programming lineup.
