Gracie McGraw set social media on fire this week when she addressed rumors about coming out. In her Instagram Story, Gracie clapped back at critics suggesting her announcement was timed for publicity. However, the actor emphasized that her sexuality isn’t new news to those closest to her.

Born to country superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Gracie has quietly built a resumé that proves she’s more than just a nepo baby. After graduating from New York University, she moved to Los Angeles to chase her dream of acting. She landed her first steady gig as Tanya on Tyler Perry’s hit series “If Loving You Is Wrong,” appearing from 2018 through 2020. Gracie made her Broadway debut in April 2023, stepping into the spotlight at the Nederlander Theatre for the new musical “Shucked.”

Now, Gracie’s personal life has come into question. She addressed rumors about “coming out” and reaffirmed her identity as an out, queer, bisexual woman.

Gracie is not here for tabloid fodder surrounding her personal life. On June 3, Gracie suggested tabloids had spun her Pride Month posts into clickbait—but she reminded everyone she’s been “an out and proud queer, bisexual woman” for years.

“Hello all!! It has come to my attention that some tabloids have taken an Instagram story I posted yesterday and have used it as clickbait, saying I’ve ‘come out,” Gracie shared on her Instagram Story via CBS News.

She continued: “Let me be VERY clear here….. I’ve been an out and proud queer, bisexual woman and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she continued. “I have and will always be very vocal about my support of LGBTQIA+ rights and the community, but thank you so much to these tabloids for shedding light that it’s pride month!!!”

Although McGraw and Hill haven’t publicly commented on Gracie’s coming out post, they’ve long supported their daughter’s work and values. In an August 2020 interview with People magazine about his daughters, McGraw previously described Gracie as “a strong, independent young woman” whose passion makes him proud every day.

“They don’t tolerate injustice for anybody, except for themselves or for anybody else. And they speak up about it. And I’m really proud of that,” Tim told People magazine. “Gracie, our oldest daughter, is an actress in L.A., and she makes me proud every day because she’s such a strong, independent young lady who speaks her mind.”

McGraw and Hill first locked eyes at a Country Radio Seminar in 1994, but they hit it off when Faith joined McGraw’s Spontaneous Combustion tour two years later. Months after saying “I do,” the couple announced they were expecting their first child. Gracie arrived in May 1997, followed by Maggie in August 1998, and their youngest, Audrey, in December 2001. And while Grace has taken to Hollywood, Maggie holds a Master’s in Sustainability Science from Stanford and now works in environmental policy. Audrey, on the other hand, is a model and musician.

There are so many members of the LGBTQIA+ community who don’t have the support of their parents. Thankfully, it appears that the country music stars are devoted to Gracie’s happiness and continue to love her for who she is.
