‘The Get Down’ Creator Baz Lurhmann Speaks on the Show’s Cancellation: ‘It Kills Me That I Can’t Make Myself Available’

As we sadly reported yesterday, ‘The Get Down’ will NOT be returning to Netflix for a second season.

There are more than likely a number of reasons why — the show cost $120 million to produce (making it one of the most expensive TV productions in Hollywood history), viewership was reportedly 1/5th of the ‘Orange Is the New Black’ audience, and creator Baz Lurhmann couldn’t commit to the project because he’s too busy.

Baz took to Facebook to respond to fans’ outcry over the cancellation and why a season 2 is ‘unlikely to happen.’
