Robin Thicke puts the blame on Miley Cyrus for the backlash received during their performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. In the preview for his upcoming interview with Oprah for Oprah’s Next Chapter, Thicke now says he wasn’t aware of Miley’s raunchy moves.
Oprah: ‘You didn’t think of it as sexual?’ questioned Oprah.
Robin: ‘Well, I was on stage, I didn’t see it, you know.’So to me, I’m walking out towards Miley, I’m not thinking “sex,” I’m thinking “fun”
Oprah: ‘But she was twerking up against your kahoonas.’
Robin: ‘But you have to remember I’m singing my butt of, so I’m sitting there, I’m looking up at the sky, I’m singing. Im not really paying attention to all that. That’s on her,’ he laughed. ‘I’m like, “Listen, I’m the twerkee. I’m twerked upon. I don’t twerk myself, okay? I’m just twerked upon.’
But that wasn’t what the musician had told Vanity Fair earlier this month:
‘They told me [beforehand] that Miley’s going to take her clothes off and dance around and she might bend over,’ the married father-of-one revealed.
‘I just said, I don’t care, let’s entertain the people. Let’s give them something they’re not ready for, let’s make them talk.’
As much as we love Robin, we don’t agree with putting the blame solely on Miley. It takes two to tango.
