‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Erika Jayne’s estranged husband, Tom Girardi, had his assets frozen and a judge is asking prosecutors to look into his actions.
According to a federal judge, Tom conducted himself in an “unconscionable” manner — alleging that Tom misappropriated at least $2 million in client money.
The judge has referred the case to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for possible criminal investigation.
The money in question was intended to compensate the families of victims of the Boing 737 Max, Lion Air crash.
Tom’s lawyers said their client didn’t currently have the $2 mil he owes his clients, telling the court Tom’s firm only has $15,000 in the bank.
Tom’s lawyers also said they have concerns over his mental fitness, saying they’re unsure if he completely understands the seriousness of the allegations against him. They told the judge they would like for Tom to undergo a mental evaluation.
This is just one of several legal troubles facing Tom — he’s being named in two additional lawsuits. One is from a man named Robert Keese, a partner in Tom’s law firm who claims Tom owes him $506,000. The other is from Tom’s partners in a business called 1126 Wilshire. They claim Tom fraudulently encumbered property the partnership owns that’s worth about $7.5 million.
Erika is also being sued and accused of going through a ‘sham’ divorce to help her husband hide assets.
