Supermodels Chrissy Teigen and Tyra Banks had an emotional moment during a recent episode of Tyra’s new daytime talk show “FABLife” as they opened up about their individual struggles to start a family.
Chrissy revealed that although they’ve been trying, she and John Legend have been unsuccessful in having kids.
“I will say honestly John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened,” said Chrissy.
She added, “We’ve seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it.”
Chrissy also shared how tired she is of being asked when she is going to have kids, because people don’t know what she is going through.
“I’m like, ‘One day, you’re going to ask that to the wrong girl who’s really struggling, and it’s going to be really hurtful to them,'” she said. “And I hate that.”
Tyra added to the conversation, revealing she’s been faced with the same questions.
“I am so tired of seeing on my social media, ‘Why don’t you have kids?’ she said. “‘Why don’t you have kids?’ You don’t know. You don’t know what I’m going through.”
She began tearing up as she recalled the unfulfilled promises she made to herself about having kids over the years.
“When I was 23 years old, I used to tell myself, ‘In three years I’m gonna have kids.’ Then I turned 24. ‘In three years I’m gonna have kids. Then just every single year I kept saying that… and then, after a while it’s like, ‘OK, now I want to — and it’s not so easy.'”
