Charlamagne Tha God took to the airwaves this morning to further clarify an old interview in which he admitted to raping his wife.

According to him, the rest of the quote goes something like this: “She told me ‘yeah I can see how people say that, but that’s not what happened with us.’”
In case we didn’t believe him, Charlamagne called his wife Jessica to get her perspective on the situation. She confirmed on-air that the encounter was not only consensual, but that she was completely coherent during their first time, and also mentions that she consented to sex the next morning.
“Did I rape you the first time we had sex with each other?” he asked.
“That’s not what happened, we both know what happened and I was not passed out. I was very coherent, like enough for me to lift off my hips so you could take my panties off,” she replied.
She did school Charlamagne on the way he addressed the incident in the first place, because she says the situation was reflective of “rape culture,” or a culture that allows men to take advantage of intoxicated women, but not of rape itself.
