Cam Newton Says He Was ‘Forced’ Into Being Traded By the Carolina Panthers: ‘I Never Asked For It’

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton have reached an agreement where they will work together on finding Cam a new team.

While the press statement makes the trade seem mutual, Cam suggests it’s anything but.

In the comments of the Panthers’ Instagram post announcing that the team had given him “permission to seek a trade,” Cam issued a response, arguing that the team forced him into this situation.

“Stop with the word play,” he wrote in his own wingdings-esque font style. “I never asked for it. There is no dodging this one; I love the Panthers to death and will always love you guys. Please do not try and play me, or manipulate the narrative and act like I wanted this; you forced me into this.”
