Britney Spears’ Father Responds To Members Of Congress, ‘She’s Never Asked To Be Let Out!’

Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears is speaking out against Congressmen Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) after they asked for federal hearings about conservatorships and noted the singer as the “most striking example.”

Britney Spears’ father is responding to two Members of Congress who have called out the pop stars conservatorship and believe there are ‘questionable motives’ behind its existence.

Jamie Spears’ lawyer, who represents him in the case, is pointing out that her father has “diligently and professionally” carried out his duties of the conservatorship for many years.

As we reported, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan and Representative Matt Gaetz sent a letter to the chairman requesting a formal hearing on potential problems with conservatorships. In the letter, they used Britney’s situation as an example of a problematic situation.

Jamie Spears’ attorney points out that since the beginning of the case, Britney’s conservatorship has had a system of checks and balances — including yearly accounting with reviews and expert opinions.

As we’ve reported, every expense (even trips to Target) is recorded and signed off on by a judge. And…the attorney says many of the decisions involving the conservatorship have come from Britney and her own legal team.

“Britney’s Conservatorship of the Estate was co-managed by a private professional fiduciary and her father until early 2019. At that time, Britney requested in court papers that her father be the sole conservator of her estate. Her Conservatorship of the Person is not managed by her father but by a private professional fiduciary,” she continued.

In the congressional letter, the two representatives alleged that Jamie Spears has used “questionable motives and legal tactics” over the years, in the conservatorship case.

Britney’s father’s legal team responded to this statement, saying, “Jamie Spears has diligently and professionally carried out his duties as one of Britney’s conservators, and his love for his daughter and dedication to protecting her is clearly apparent to the court.”

She also pointed out that over the past 13 years, Britney and her legal team have never filed a petition to formally end the conservatorship.

Photographers caught up with Rep. Gaetz this week and asked about the inspiration for the letter, and he admitted to watching the documentary ‘Framing Britney Spears.’

Gaetz was upfront about how bad he believes the situation with Britney Spear actually is saying she has been ‘abused’ and is not able to vote, drive, or even marry who she chooses. As you know, Britney has been dating her boyfriend Sam Asghari for many years, and the congressman believes the Committee should have Britney testify without any conservators or lawyers.

The most interesting take away from the statement is when Jamie Spears’ lawyer said. “Any time Britney wants to end her conservatorship, she can ask her lawyer to file a petition to terminate it.”
