According to TMZ, the musician — who works with Bruno Mars — filed documents on Friday asking for a dissolution of marriage.

The hitmaker (born Brandon Paak Anderson) and Jae Lin (born Jaylyn Chang) wed back in 2011 and welcomed two sons: Soul, 13, and Shine, six.

He did not list a date of separation in his filing, simply writing ‘TBD’ in the designated area.

However, he did express a desire for Chang and himself to share joint physical and legal custody of their sons.

The hitmaker would also like to set up a visitation schedule for their children.

Anderson .Paak and his legal team are still in the process of dividing up the former couple’s assets and property.

He met Chang while they were both attending music school, where he worked as a teacher’s assistant.

Before meeting Chang, Anderson .Paak had a brief first marriage with a girl he met at church during his younger years.

Although he’d been married before, the artist previously told the hosts of The Breakfast Club that his second marriage was ‘the one that matters.’

The Come Down singer went on to open up about the turbulent early years of his and Chang’s marriage, during which they faced homelessness after he was fired from his job at a marijuana farm.

He said that the two also had to deal with the birth of their eldest son Soul, now 13, around the same time.

Although the two were often forced to resort to squatting or couch-surfing, Anderson .Paak’s wife remained by his side the whole time.

‘She’s the one who came from Korea, didn’t speak [any] English, she’s [the one who has] the balls,’ he said.

Although he is currently navigating his divorce, Anderson .Paak is also focusing on his upcoming directorial debut, K-Pops!, which will also star his eldest son.

The feature was inspired by what the singer, who is of mixed Black and Korean heritage, described as ‘funnier aspects of the experience’ of growing up biracial.

The performer also spoke to Hypebeast and opened up about why he chose to cast Soul in the upcoming feature, which currently does not have a release date.

‘I wanted to write a movie that would explore that dynamic and those familial relationships. And also, I get to sneak in quality time with my son while shooting,’ he said.
