ABC’s ‘mixed-ish’ to Feature New Theme Song ‘In the Mix’ Written and Performed by Mariah Carey

We’re just a few weeks away from the premiere of the second ‘black-ish’ spin-off, ‘mixed-ish’ and it has been announced that the show will feature a brand new song by Mariah Carey to serve as its theme.

The song is called “In the Mix” — and yes, she wrote it.

via TV Line:

In a statement, Carey said, “As a fan of Kenya Barris’ megahit shows, black-ish and grown-ish, I was inspired to connect with Kenya to find a way we could work together. As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be part of mixed-ish, especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved. I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix’ for Kenya and the show.”

In addition to Arica Himmel as Bow, mixed-ish will also feature Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tika Sumpter as Bow’s parents, Paul and Alicia, alongside Ethan William Childress and Mykal-Michelle Harris as her siblings Johan and Santamonica. Christina Anthony also stars as Alicia’s sister Denise, and Gary Cole portrays Paul’s father, Harrison.

Mariah Carey has previously contributed original music to several soundtracks, including Glitter, All I Want for Christmas Is You, and The Star.

‘mixed-ish’ premieres on ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9/8c, followed by ‘black-ish”s Season 6 premiere.
