Whoopi Goldberg and DeRay McKesson are currently at odds over his reaction to the new movie, ‘The War of the Planet of the Apes.’
On today’s episode of ‘The View,’ Whoopi called out DeRay for his now-deleted tweets suggesting that Hollywood purposely mocked him by putting an ape in a blue vest in the film.
Whoopi pointed out that in the 1968 version of the movie, the apes ALL wore blue vests.
In the latest installment of the film, one of the blue vest-wearing apes from the past is a character.
“DeRay, you need to go back and watch the 1968 original and check out what the apes were wearing. This has nothing to do with you,” said Whoopi. “Get over yourself!” she added.
DeRay took to Twitter to explain why he deleted his tweets — and called Whoopi out.
.@WhoopiGoldberg, if you have something to say, I'm here.

Now, with the #PlanetOfTheApes poster & toy, I was contacted by folks within Hollywood who thought there was an issue, hence those tweets.

After speaking with even more people about the history of the film, I deleted the tweets.
