Wendy Williams cut Kevin Hunter completely out of her life earlier this year, but according to a new report the talk show host has been having ‘a series of emotional heart-to-heart talks’ with her estranged husband and plans to re-hire him to handle her affairs.
via Daily Mail:
After a series of face-to-face meetings, the pair even drafted a joint press statement to announce they will not dissolve their production company, publishing house or charitable foundation in a bid not to damage the ‘legacy’ of the work they’ve put in.
Though their 22-year marriage ended in infidelity and acrimony, a source told DailyMail.com the two still make a ‘solid team’, having built a successful business, which they are now trying to preserve with a carefully negotiated divorce deal.
DailyMail.com understands that lawyers for the pair are close to a settlement agreement and Williams has paved the way for Hunter to return as her business manager providing he refrain from pursuing her over alimony.
‘Wendy and Kevin’s marriage might be over but they still have love for one another and she realizes that when it comes to business they had a great partnership, there was definitely magic there,’ a source close to the couple told DailyMail.com.
‘Wendy has come around to the idea that it makes more sense for Kevin to stick around, it’s best for her business and career and for their family.
‘Since he left the business there’s been a lot of infighting and back-biting behind the scenes, that’s the kind of stuff Kevin kept a handle on.
‘Of course Wendy was furious with Kevin over his affair, she felt he had publicly humiliated her and she wanted to come out fighting, but she’s since softened her view of him and wants an amicable divorce.
‘He has been very supportive, particularly around her struggles with alcoholism.’
But while the couple is understood to be trying to resolve their split ‘amicably’ for the sake of their family, Hunter is concerned that if he agrees to come back as Williams’ business manager and make certain concessions in the divorce settlement, she could easily decide to fire him down the line, the source explained
‘Kevin is willing to work with Wendy but he wants to make sure anything he decides to do is in his best interests, that’s what’s being sorted out now,’ the source said.
The deal would mean that Hunter and Williams’ companies, including The Hunter Foundation, WW Talk Productions and Hunter Publishing Group, will not be dissolved as a result of their divorce.
Instead, Wendy will resign as an officer from the foundation but ‘will support from time to time, as well as will be involved with other philanthropic efforts that are important to her,’ the source said.
‘In recognizing generational wealth, these organizations were built as a family, and Wendy and Kevin want to pass them on to their son for his future,’ the source added.
This sounds like a terrible idea to us, but this could also be Wendy’s creative way of getting herself out of alimony payments. As we exclusively reported, Wendy’s show is ‘very likely’ to end after this upcoming season. With her show off the air and her deal with Jerry O’Connell’s show done, we can’t imagine there will be much for Kevin to manage. We’ll see how it all plays out.
