Regina King took home a Golden Globe for her performance in ‘If Beale Street Could Talk.’
During her acceptance speech, the actress touched on the importance of actors using their platform when they win awards. The music tried to cut her off, but she carried on with something incredibly important.
“Time’s up. Times two,” she declared. “The reason why we do this is because we understand that our microphones are big and we are speaking for everyone.”
“I’m going to use my platform right now to say,” she said, “in the next two years, everything that I produce — I’m making a vow and it’s going to be tough — to make sure that everything that I produce is 50 percent women.”
