I know I posted this with the rest of the performances, but I had to single this one out and talk about how amazing the Whitney Houston tribute was.
The tribute opened with Mariah Carey giving an emotional speech about losing her longtime friend…all while looking absolutely stunning. It’s the best look I’ve seen from her in a while. Monica was the first to sing, followed by a rousing performance from Brandy. Whitney’s brother took the stage for a bit before Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston, came out to sing “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”
This is the part where I broke down. Boo-hoo tears.
After that there were a few shot speeches from the cast of Waiting to Exhale, and Chaka Khan brought it home with “I’m Every Woman“. I’m so glad they ended it on an upbeat note. It was a great celebration of Whitney’s life and legacy. Take a look at the entire tribute below.
