The cast of “The Color Purple” paid tribute on Broadway to Prince on the day of his death by singing “Purple Rain” as an encore after the Thursday night (April 21) show.

Jennifer Hudson, who plays Shug Avery, and Cynthia Erivo, who plays Celie, led the cast in a stirring rendition Prince’s iconic song.
