Adele fought back tears during a concert on Sunday as she dedicated her Antwerp show to victims of the mass shooting in Orlando.

“I would like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando at Pulse nightclub,” she said. “The LGBTQIA community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m really moved by it.”

The shooting at Pulse nightclub is the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, with 50 dead as a result of it and more than 50 wounded. The lone suspect in the shooting, Omar Mateen, reportedly pledged allegiance to ISIS before the attack, although his father told NBC Newsthat his motivations were likely homophobic, not religious. He said Mateen had been enraged after seeing two men kissing in Miami a few months ago. Pulse is a nightclub that caters to the LGBT community.
