Here’s something to ‘Scream and Shout’ over.
British singer and UK X Factor judge Tulisa is suing will.i.am claiming that she co-wrote lyrics to his hit single ‘Scream and Shout’ which features Britney Spears.
Tulisa originally planned on releasing the song as part of her album in 2012 under the title “I Don’t Give A F**k” after working on it with Will’s right-hand man Jean Baptiste, but the Black Eyed Pea took it and recorded the smash with Britney instead. Tulisa is still fuming with Will for taking the song off her,” says a source. “The fact the song blew up only makes it worse. She’s well within her right to claim some of the publishing money. If she proves the words are hers, she could get a huge pay-out.”
Tulisa is claiming that she wrote the opening line of the song ‘When you hear this in the club, you gonna turn this sh*t up.‘
Now we know that Tulisa’s album didn’t sell too well (she barely sold 10,000 copies despite her lead single “Young” debuting at #1 and all further promotion of the record has been cancelled) and reportedly she’s claiming the album flopped because she wasn’t able to release “I Don’t Give A F**k” as her third single and had to go with the underwhelming mid-tempo “Sight Of You” instead.
This seems pretty legit to me. Wouldn’t you love muffins be upset if somebody turned your song into a hit and you got no cash?
