Before you go creating beef between Tamar Braxton and Rihanna, Tamar wants to be clear that she has nothing but love for the 27-year-old entertainer.

The youngest Braxton sister stopped by Power 105.1 to chat with Angie Martinez on Monday (July 20), and the conversation took an interesting turn when the subject of R&B music was brought up.

While Tamar absolutely adores Rihanna, she took issue with the singer’s Unapologetic album being nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards.

“I had an issue with Rihanna being nominated at the Grammys for Best R&B Album. She doesn’t sing R&B music. She’s a pop star. You know what I’m saying? And so, I had an issue with that a little bit. I love her [though]. Glad she won.”

When asked what constitutes R&B music, Tamar offered up the following response:

“It’s called Rhythm and Blues. Ribs and Barbecue. It’s not pop pop pop tat uh tat tat tat. It’s soulful. That’s R&B. Every song of hers I’ve gotten my complete and utter life to… twerking. I’m just saying. I love her; I’m one of her biggest fans period, but that’s not R&B music.”

Tamar later added that she considers Beyoncé more of an R&B act than Rihanna.

Watch the video below. The conversation starts in full around the 8:25 mark.

Does Tamar raise a valid point?
