‘Bad Girls Club’ star Shannade Clermont used a dead man’s bank information to make more than $20,000 in purchases sometime after he paid $400 to go on a date with her.
via NYDN:
Clermont, 24, allegedly pocketed debit card data from the man, who was found dead from an overdose on Feb. 1, 2017, in his E. 53rd St. apartment, according to the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office.
Police identified the victim as James Alesi, 42.
Federal prosecutors claim Clermont visited the man’s apartment for a “prostitution date” the evening before he was found dead — and then used this debit card information “to make or attempt to make more than $20,000 in fraudulent purchases during the months following the victim’s death.”
“Clermont stole the information for two debit cards of the victim, found in his wallet in the victim apartment, and used that stolen debit card information for, among things, payments of her rent and phone bills, flight purchases and several online purchases of thousands of dollars of clothing and other merchandise,” prosecutors said in a statement.
“As alleged, Shannade Clermont, a former cast member of the ‘Bad Girls Club,’ lived up to her reality series reputation,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said.
Before her case was called, Clermont turned to her twin sister, Shannon, in the courtroom and whispered, “Sorry” as both women — who appeared together on “Bad Girls Club” — teared up.
Shannade Clermont faces charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft. Clermont is not facing any charges in the man’s death. If convicted, she could spend up to 37 years in federal lockup.
She was expected to be released on a $100,000 personal recognizance bond. She and her lawyer, Donald Duboulay, declined to comment after her arraignment and the Clermont sisters left in an Uber..
Shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, Clermont had tweeted “In drunk (sic) don’t mind me.
Now that Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams are no longer buddies, from here on out we’ll be referring to The Clermont Twins as the new Freak and Fraud. Shoutout to NeNe Leakes!
