Serena Williams thinks childbirth will make her a ‘real woman’ — and she’s facing some backlash because of it.

The 35-year-old is set to welcome her first child with fiancé Alexis Ohanian in September and recently spoke with the Herald Sun’s Stellar about how she feels giving birth will change her.

“I have so much respect for so many women [for giving birth],” Serena said. “I am about to be a real woman now, you know? It’s going to be something incredibly impressive to go through.”

You already know that not everyone took kindly to Serena’s ‘real woman’ comment.

We’re sure Serena didn’t mean to offend, but she definitely should have chosen her words a bit more carefully.
