An Iowa mom is behind bars after lying to people in her community about her 5-year-old daughter having cancer. Leatha Kaye Slauson had friends and family convinced her daughter Riley was dying.

Once authorities learned that Riley didn’t have the disease, she was arrested and charged with child endangerment.

Police said Slauson shaved the little girl’s head and medicated her with unnecessary cannabis oil to support the evil lie, KCCI reports state.

Slauson allegedly also fibbed to her husband that their daughter had inoperable cancer.

The mother, 30, received donations of money and even a family trip to Walt Disney World after she claimed in 2013 that Riley had terminal colorectal cancer.

Well wishers raised more than $1,000 and rallied around the family, but when administrators at Riley’s school realized Slauson’s story about her daughter didn’t add up, her incredible ruse was exposed.

Slauson talked to a local news station in Iowa about Riley’s terminal illness and how the girl had written a bucket list of things she wanted to do before she died.

One of the wishes that was granted was a special ride on a fire truck because Riley wanted to grow up to be a firefighter.

The cold mom claimed to the news station that Riley’s cancer had “spread to her liver…and lymph nodes.”

Incredibly, Slauson even allegedly medicated the 5-year-old with unnecessary cannabis oil (typically used like medical marijuana for pain) and posted a picture of Riley on Facebook in which the girl was sucking on an oral syringe.

But Riley isn’t suffering from any illness, authorities said.

Slauson now also faces a drug charge for giving her daughter the cannabis oil, cops revealed.

In a time where people are soliciting all types of things in the name of various causes and organizations — this is is a prime example of why you have to be careful in selecting to whom and to what donate your time and money to . Things aren’t always what they seem.
