A Chicago man was caught on camera sneaking into a couple’s home and hovering over them as they sleptbefore grabbing a purse and leaving.
“We realized what had happened, and we were both like, ‘What the hell, is this real?'” Jack Mackercher told Chicago’s DNA Info.
“It was really quite creepy, especially when you see that happen in your house.”
The bizarre burglar broke in Monday morning, when Mackercher and his girlfriend fell asleep while doing laundry.
The Bucktown couple didn’t notice until Jordan Buranskas realized her purse was missing.
“We actually got into a little bit of an argument about it. He thought I left it at the restaurant the night before,” she told ABC affiliate WLS-TV.
To prove a point, Mackercher scrolled back through footage from the surveillance cams intended to monitor the couple’s dogs.
The chilling footage left the couple terrified.
“He stood there for about five minutes the first time, then walked away, then came back and hovered over us again for another five minutes,” Buranskas said.
He didn’t even disturb the couple’s dogs — but before he left he swiped Buranskas’ purse.
She told WGN-TV that the creeper probably climbed up six flights of stairs before sneaking in through a sliding door in back.
“I like to think that he was watching the TV and not us,” she said.
When the couple made their shocking discovery, they called police. Now, they say, they’re planning to amp up security and warn their neighbors.
Locals have dubbed the intruder the “Creeper Ghost.”
“This guy really needs to get caught,” Mackercher said.
This could’ve ended really badly. Praise God they’re alright.
