Say What Now? Mom Locked 1-Year-Old Inside a Car While She Celebrated New Year’s Eve at a Bar

A Tennessee mom is starting out 2021 as a bad mother.

The drunken woman was arrested after someone found her 1-year-old baby girl locked inside of a vehicle that was parked in front of a bar on New Year’s Eve.

The bystander spotted the baby girl alone in the car about an hour before midnight and immediately busted one of the windows to rescue her, according to an arrest affidavit obtained Friday by local station NewsChannel 9.

Officers eventually identified the driver as 25-year-old Sylvie King, who walked out of the bar and approached a police car while “very disorganized and irate,” the affidavit reportedly states.

The woman also had a “heavy odor of alcohol coming from her person,” her speech was slurred and her eyes were glossy and red, according to police.

As cops tried ask King why she left her child alone in the car, she “became irate and belligerent with police, causing a further disorder,” authorities said.

She was finally taken into custody and charged with child neglect, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

The child was turned over to her grandmother, who came to the scene during the investigation, NewChannel 9 reported. King was later released from jail and told the station she and her daughter were doing well.

We won’t knock her down too hard — she has the rest of a new year to get herself together. We hope she does.
