A former teacher was arrested in Florida and is facing possible felony charges after allegedly having an “inappropriate emotional relationship” with one of her students.

The student’s mother apparently told police after learning what was happening between her son and Kristen O’Brien, 31. The mother found text and Instagram conversations between the boy and O’Brien.
O’Brien met with the boy’s mother at a Steak N Shake restaurant and allegedly admitted to having an “inappropriate emotional relationship” and a “crush” on the boy and having a physical encounter at the family’s home. O’Brien also allegedly tried to make the boy jealous by tutoring his brother and taking him to McDonald’s.
O’Brien, who quit her job at United Brethren in Christ Academy in Holly Hill in September, was arrested Friday on charges of lewd and lascivious battery sex act on a child between 12 and 16 years old.
Her next court date is scheduled for November, according to WFTV9.
