Word to the wise: If you’re partaking in illegal activities, make sure you don’t highlight them by allowing one of the biggest pop stars in the world to capture it on Instagram.

Rihanna uploaded the photo above with a super cute monkey in Thailand, but apparently the monkey is a protected species.

RiRi was in Thailand on vacation this weekend when she saw a slow loris she couldn’t resist. The bad girl posted a picture of herself with the adorable Ramona Singer-eyed primate on Instagram, receiving more than 200,000 likes.

Among those who did not like the photo were Thai authorities, who tracked down the two men who allegedly provided Rihanna with the slow loris, a protected species in Thailand.

“Phuket authorities were alerted to the picture (of Rihanna), and last night police arrested the two individuals who brought out the loris as a photo opportunity for tourists,” a Phuket district chief told the AP.

The locals, a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man, face four years in prison and a fine of approximately $1,300.

Well, at least the monkey is okay.
