Prince’s siblings claim they have yet to see a dime from the singer’s estate despite lawyers and advisors being paid out millions.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Sharon (sister), Norrine (sister) and John Nelson (brother) have filed a petition for compensation in Prince’s estate.
Prince left behind all his assets to his six siblings. The estate is run by Comerica Bank who have not seen eye to eye with the heirs numerous time. The siblings have fought Comerica accusing them of mismanaging money and leaving them in the dark about deals. Comerica has denied the allegations and claimed to be doing the best given the circumstances.
In newly filed documents, Sharon, Norrine and John are asking the court to approve “payment for services and efforts provided to the Estate.”
The heirs say they have provided, “considerable time and investment in business matters related to the Estate. Unlike others, who have performed services for the Prince Estate, SNJ has not received any financial sums for numerous and repeated services they have contributed to the Estate.”
The three siblings claim they have had to rely “solely on their pension, social security, personal savings and loans from friends to cover the costs needed to support the Prince Estate despite the millions paid to advisors, attorneys and others approved by the Court.”
Sharon, Norrine and John say they want to continue helping out the estate but cannot continue without being paid.
The documents note, “As this Court is aware, the Estate has now been on-going for over three years. In this time, millions have been paid to the Personal Representatives, their accountants, attorneys, and legal advisors.” The heirs say they have previously requested to be paid while the estate matters are being worked out but were shut down.
Prince’s family say they have significant financial instability due to their limited financial resources.
The three say they years of corporate experience and should be paid to work on estate matters. They are pleading with the court to step in and force Comerica to work out a settlement.
A judge has yet to rule.
As The Blast first reported, Prince’s siblings have been facing financial issues ever since his death in 2016. They owe various lawyers over a million in unpaid legal fees. Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson sold off a large percentage of her interest in the estate following financial woes.
