Phylicia Rashad says she was misquoted in her defense of longtime friend Bill Cosby.
Earlier, Rashad was quoted by Showbiz 411 as saying “forget these women,” which was a surprise to many who believed that Phylicia wouldn’t be so callous towards alleged victims of sexual assault.
In an interview on World News Tonight with David Muir, she clarified her comments.
“That is not what I said. What I said is, ‘this is not about the women. This is about something else. This is about the obliteration of legacy.'”
“I am a woman,” Rashad continued. “I would never say such a thing.”
She declined, however, to comment about the bevy of accusations about Bill Cosby.
“I can’t speak to those things and wouldn’t want to.”
