A scary scene unfolded at Steveston Fisherman’s Wharf in Vancouver over the weekend involving a little girl and a sea lion.
The sea lion was minding his business & splashing about in the water as onlookers gathered around to watch and take pictures. One man decided coax the sea lion closer to the platform so everyone could get a better look — at one point he even bent down in an attempt to touch the wild animal.
For the most part, the sea lion kept his distance…that is until a little girl made her way over to the edge of the platform. At that moment, the sea lion lunged forward out of the water and was nearly face-to-face with the girl before retreating back into the water.
She laughed. Her family laughed. Everyone clearly thought they were at Sea World, completely forgetting that this is a wild animal.
The little girl then turned her back to the sea lion and sat on the edge of the platform, prompting the sea lion to make his move.
In a split-second, the sea lion POPPED out of the water and SNATCHED the little girl back down with him!
Luckily, the girl was rescued by a family member and no one was injured.
Take a look at the video below. Let this be a lesson — leave these wild animals ALONE.
