Misty Copeland is joining Disney’s upcoming ‘Nutcracker’ film and will play the lead ballerina role in the sole dance sequence.
The live action project is titled ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ and is based on the 1816 story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by E.T.A. Hoffmann. In the story, a young girl is charged by her parents with taking care of a Christmas toy Nutcracker doll which comes to life and defeats an evil Mouse King with seven heads.
Misty made her lead role announcement earlier today via her Instagram account.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing project with Disney and the wonderful Lasse Hallstrom,” she captioned the photo.
