Minions proved to be anything but at this weekend’s box office.
The Despicable Me prequel led the rest of the field by debuting at number one with an estimated $115.2 million.
With its impressive debut, Minions scored the second biggest animated opening of all time, surpassing Toy Story 3‘s opening haul of $110.3 million but falling $6.4 million short of Shrek the Third‘s colossal $121.6 million.
Minions may not have scored the biggest animated opening of all time, but it did capture the biggest animated opening day by pulling in an estimated $46.2 million on Friday.
And here we thought The Lion King was number one. SMH.
