Kanye West was NOT happy backstage before his Saturday Night Live performance.
According to Page Six, the rapper popped off after the SNL crew dismantled his performance stage without telling him.
In the leaked audio, he can be heard yelling “Don’t f— with me” at production staff.
“Look at that shit, they took my f—in’ stage off of SNL without asking me. Now I’m bummed. That and Taylor Swift fake ass,” he said. Clearly ‘Ye had a rough day.
As you know, Kanye’s new song “Famous” has a line in which he says “I made that b*tch famous” in reference to Taylor Swift. Taylor’s camp issued a statement denying she knew about the lyric, although Kanye insists she knew of the line AND approved it..
Update: Kanye’s rep has released a statement on the audio.
“He did not yell at ‘SNL’ staff,” the rep said, according to Complex. “This audio was secretly recorded while he was venting his frustration in a private moment with his team. He found out his stage design was changed and taken apart under the direction of the show’s lighting director without anyone’s approval. He had spent an entire day rehearsing and a lot of hard work went into the performance. Dramatic set changes were made 30 minutes before going live. It should be understandable why he was upset after being completely blindsided.”
