Damon Wayans Jr.’s Independence Day tweet set off more than just some fireworks.
“Happy white people proud of their racist ancestors day,” he tweeted.

As you can imagine, there were quite a few angry white people in his mentions.
Coming from a guy who watched his black family become successful and make millions in "racist America". Privilege in your name but complain?

“Jokes aren’t illegal,” he wrote to another person who cited “another example of Hollywood talking down to Americans.”
Just another example of Hollywood talking down to Americans. They hate this country & their fans. #FabricatedRacism sadly returns @wayansjr

Someone else wanted to make sure Damon knew that he lives “in the best country in the world” and that he should “thank God that you live in America.”
But…did he lie? Most of America’s ancestors WERE racist.
