Justin Bieber has earned his sixth No 1 on the Billboard 200 with his new album, Purpose.

The album moved 649,000 units in the first week — making it the largest weekly unit total since Billboard started integrating streams into its tally. He managed to beat out Drake’s previous record for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late which moved 535,000 units.

Not only that, but out of those 649,000 units — 522,000 of those were pure album sales. It has become Bieber’s largest sales week ever.

Purpose’s 522,000 is the biggest sales week for an album since Taylor Swift’s 1989 debuted with 1.29 million (week ending Nov. 2, 2014), and the largest for a male artist’s album since Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 bowed with 792,000 (week ending Nov. 10, 2013).

Congrats to Bieber, but none of this will matter once Adele’s record shattering numbers are made official next week. She projected to sell 2.5 to 2.9 MILLION copies.
